Das Landgut Il Portone, in Borgo San Martino, liegt auf den grünen Hügeln von Abbateggio, auf einem Hang des Nationalparks der Maiella, in einer wundervollen Umgebung, die ideal ist für Ausflüge mit dem Mountain-Bike, sowie für Bergwanderungen. Von der Anlage aus hat man eine herrliche Aussicht auf das Massiv der Maiella und seine wunderschönen Täler, bis hin zum Meer. Il Portone verfügt über 9 Doppelzimmer mit unabhängigem Eingang und privatem Badezimmer, sowie über eine Wohnung mit zwei Doppelzimmern. Alle Zimmer haben Zugang zu einer kleinen Loggia, die zun Lejo-Tal hin liegt. Die Zimmer sind mit antiken Möbeln der lokalen bauerlichen Tradition eingerichtet. Insgesamt stehen 29 Schlafplätze zur Verfügung. In den zwei Speisesälen kann man die typische abruzzische Küche geniessen und ein gemütliches Wohnzimmer, mit einem imposanten Steinkamin, bietet allen Gäste des Gutes einen angenehmen und entspannenden Aufenthalt. Sehr schnell erreicht man vin hier aus die Gebirgsorte der Maiella, das Dorf Caramanico Terme und des Naturschutzgebiets des “Valle dell’Orfento” (Orfentotal), die antike Ortschaft von Abbateggio und die Ausgrabungsstätten des “Valle Giumentina” (Giumentinatal), die Einsiedelei von Celestino V., die Abtei von San Liberatore a Maiella, Santa Maria Arabona und San Clemente a Casauria, wunderschöne Beispiele von Benediktiner-und Zisterzienserarchitektur. Il Portone in Borgo San Martino sorge nelle verdi colline di Abbateggio sulle pendici del Parco Nazionale della Majella, in un ambiente naturale ideale per passeggiate in mountain bike e per escursioni in montagna. Fanno da cornice allo splendido borgo l’ampia vista sul massiccio della Majella e le splendide valli, fino ad arrivare al mare. La struttura dispone di 9 camere matrimoniali, tutte con ingresso indipendente e bagno privato e un appartamento con due camere matrimoniali. Tutte le stanze usufruiscono di una loggetta che si affaccia sulla valle del Lejo e sono arredate con antichi mobili della tradizione locale contadina per un totale di 23 posti letto. La struttura dispone inoltre di due sale da pranzo ed un accogliente soggiorno, con un imponente camino in pietra. In pochi minuti si possono raggiungere le località della maielletta per praticare sport invernali, Caramanico Terme e la riserva naturale della Valle dell’Orfento, l’antico centro di Abbateggio ed il sito archeologico di Valle Giumentina, i luoghi di culto degli eremi di Celestino V e le abbazie di San Liberatore a Majella, Santa Maria Arabona e San Clemente a Casauria, splendidi esempi di architettura benedettina e cisterciense. The holiday farm “Il Portone” at ‘Borgo San Martino’ is set on the green hills of Abbateggio, in the heart of the Majella National Park. It is immersed in a natural environment suitable for hiking and excursions by mountain bike and it is surrounded by a vast and interesting panorama embracing the Mount Majella, the beautiful hills and the Adriatic sea. The farm holiday is the result of a careful restoration which preserved the original architectural elements, typical of the rural architecture, making use of materials like stones and fired bricks. It offers 9 bedrooms, each one with a bathroom and an independent entrance, and 2 flats with 2 bedrooms. Every room has a panoramic view and a balcony overlooking the Lejo Valley and are furnished with ancient furniture according to the local country-style. In the two restaurant halls the guests can taste the typical dishes prepared following the recipes of the local tradition and the living room, with its imposing chimney made of stone, offers all the guests a relaxing and pleasant stay. In a few minutes the guests can reach the mountain resorts of La Maielletta where it is possible to enjoy winter sports, Caramanico Terme and the Natural Reserve of the Orfento Valley, Abbateggio and the archeological site of the Giumentina Valley, the Refuges of Celestino V, the Abbey of San Liberatore a Majella (Serramonacesca), the church of Santa Maria Arabona (Manoppello) and the Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria (Castiglione a Casauria), beautiful examples of the benedectine and cistercian architecture. Worth visiting are the cities of L’Aquila, Sulmona and Atri and the three National Parks: Majella National Park, Abruzzo National Park, Gran Sasso-Laga Mountains National Park.
